All well and good: Health & Benefits Leadership Conference focuses on physical, financial and mental wellness

I am energized and renewed after three days in Las Vegas—how often can you say that? Yet, thanks to expert speakers and engaging networking opportunities, that’s exactly how I feel after last week’s third annual Human Resource Executive Health & Benefits Leadership Conference.

The event’s opening general session, “Maximizing the value of health and financial wellness,” helped set the stage for the entire conference. Session moderator Carol Harnett encouraged attendees to close their eyes, take three deep breaths, and picture a person or place that embodied happiness for them. Then, she advised, connect three words to that person or place that described wellness.

She received responses from attendees like joy, peace, strength, flexibility, caring and centered. Not one said “lower health care costs” or “higher ROI.”

Over the course of the conference, benefits professionals focused on their “wellness words” as they detailed and debated their strategies toward helping employees achieve a happy, healthy, secure and balanced life. To call it inspiring would be an understatement.

Read HRE’s great recap of the event, and mark your calendar for the fourth annual conference—set for March 30–April 1, 2016. We hope to see you there!
